Create a booklet that tells about a real trip or an imaginary trip that you have taken in Spanish. Your booklet should be illustrated either freehand, with magazine clippings, with actual photographs, or with computer-generated images.  You will be required to use the past tense (preterite) on every page of your booklet.  Your booklet should be at least 10 pages long and should have an illustration/picture and at least one sentence per page.  Please include a creative cover for your booklet.

¡CARAMBA! I Can’t Wait to Go

This project will consist of a travel poster of a Hispanic country. The project will be on one piece of poster board (not a display board) and will include the elements listed below.

REQUIREMENTS

1. A specific map of your particular country.

2.  A drawing or printed picture of the flag of your country.  This must be in color.  Creative idea:  make the background of your entire poster the flag.

3. In some fashion on the poster board–

a. the official name of the country

b. the official language of the country

c. the capital of the country (marked on the map), main rivers, and

mountain ranges

d. the currency of the country and the equivalent in dollars (see   www.xe.com/ucc/ for an online currency converter)

e. the general climate of the country (must include temperature & rainfall)

f. Things to do in the country; places of interest (at least 3)

g. at least one unusual feature of the country or its inhabitants

***PLAGIARISM (COPYING AND PASTING TEXT FROM AN INTERNET SOURCE) WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.  I do not want to read paragraphs on the poster anyway.  Summarize your findings on the poster.

Visually appealing posters will receive better grades.  Use creative lettering, creative presentation etc.

HINTS: Get postcards from that country showing its appeal, use travel

brochures, cut out labels from products from that country (i.e. if you would

have a country that has coffee beans as a main product, cut out labels

that show this and use them on the poster.) BUENA SUERTE!!!!!!

1 Major Grade

For this project, you will create a DVD cover for a movie of your life in Spanish.  You can base your movie on your actual life or embellish the facts to make your life sound more interesting.  You may use an old DVD case or purchase a new one and decorate it as you wish.  You must decide whether your movie will be a horror film, comedy, etc.  You will choose actors to play yourself, other family members, and friends (please list at least 3 on the cover).  On the back, you will need to write a description of your movie (at least 8 lines long) in Spanish.  Please be sure to put your name somewhere on your cover (or on the inside).

Tips for success:

1. DO NOT USE AN ONLINE TRANSLATOR.  In my experience of grading projects, I have found that oftentimes a project will have more errors when completed using an online translator than if the student translated the work himself.  I have given beautiful projects lower grades because of bad Spanish found on an online translation site.
2. Use any tools available to you to make your project creative and fun!  You may use publishing programs, pictures, scrapbooking materials, or whatever else best suits your creative mind.
3. Look at a DVD case of a real movie for ideas on how to make yours look authentic.
4. Don’t wait until the last minute!  Give yourself plenty of time to make your project look great.
5. Let me proofread your Spanish before the day the project is due.
